In an era marked by rapid global transformation, the maritime sector stands at a critical crossroads—facing unprecedented challenges while holding vast potential for innovation and sustainable development. The 4th International Conference on Maritime Development (ICMaD) 2025, hosted by Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran Makassar, will take place on October 8-9, 2025, in Makassar, Indonesia. Under the theme “Empowering Maritime Innovation and Sustainability in Turbulent Times,” this conference aims to bring together scholars, researchers, professionals, and policymakers from around the world to share knowledge, present research findings, and foster dialogue on emerging issues and solutions in the maritime domain. The conference will address a broad spectrum of topics including green shipping technologies, smart port systems, marine environmental protection, digital transformation in maritime logistics, and the integration of innovation into maritime education and policy. Through this platform, we aspire to catalyze collaboration and generate actionable insights that contribute to a more resilient, sustainable, and innovative maritime future. We warmly welcome all participants to join us in this international exchange of ideas, and we look forward to productive discussions that inspire progress across the global maritime community.

Objectives

The primary objectives of the ICMaD are:
1. To facilitate knowledge, information, and experience sharing among researchers, practitioners, academics, and stakeholders in discussing science and technology in a sustainable port industry.
2. To provide a forum for researchers, practitioners, academics, and stakeholders to build collaborative relationships and partnerships between governments, the maritime industry, academic institutions, and the rest of the world to promote sustainable and efficient maritime development.
